Youth at Promise Symposium - Food for the soul - Sunday, 10 April, 9.15am – 4.30pm - after the Conference

Come and be inspired by people who all have a success story to tell. If you are an educator of young adults you will find these stories of hope, determination and achievement inspiring - and learn how they did it!

If there is an underlying theme to these stories, it is the value of collaboration and learning together.

The Oxford Foyer project is a social housing project – and so much more. From an idea originating in France, it brings together three well-resourced agencies that raise money for a new build. Young adults get a high-spec, beautiful place to live, which they rent, enter education and get welfare support if they need it. Central Institute of Technology has invented a way to deliver the CGEA that works for the Oxford Foyer residents. Come and see how they do it.

The Gateway Project follows the principles of Big Picture Education, transforming the struggle in the lives of young adults into educational opportunities. Come and learn from the students themselves what works.

Hear from someone who knows, how poverty impacts on the choice of would-be learners and how the teacher who cares can dismantle barriers as well as teach. Learn how Practitioner Action Research can transform your teaching and open door for your learners. A chance to hear more from visiting UK academic Dr Vicky Duckworth.
